“The Wind of the Seas”tells the tale of a legendary ship. In the early 18th century, the waters around the New World were rife with fierce battles for wealth and control, leaving no room for fear or retreat.
The French merchant ship “La Concorde,” a slave carrier sailing near Saint Vincent, was attacked and seized by the infamous English pirate Edward Teach, known as Blackbeard.
This ship became one of the most notorious pirate vessels in the West Indies and along the Eastern coast of the American colonies after being renamed “Queen Anne’s Revenge” and armed with 40 guns.
Following Blackbeard’s death in 1718, the fate of his flagship became the subject of much speculation. It is known that before his final battle, Blackbeard intentionally grounded Queen Anne’s Revenge on a sandbar, sinking her near Beaufort, North Carolina. Although her journey was believed to end there, the ship did not remain in the shallow waters off North Carolina. Instead, she was secretly relocated to a small island near Tortola.
For centuries, she has been hidden in a disclosed location, mounted on an enormous dry dock crane, and now bearing the name “The Wind of the Seas,” she awaits her new master.
