Description
Horizon Light Expedition Ship Sculpture
Horizon Light Expedition Ship Sculpture is a one-of-a-kind original artwork by Jordan Dimitrov. Inspired by the maritime history of the War of 1812, the sculpture reimagines a captured British two-masted brig as an expedition vessel preparing to search for the Northwest Passage.
The sculpture contains more than 10,000 handcrafted elements. Jordan Dimitrov created the plank-on-frame hull along with detailed interior and exterior features. He also developed a distinctive wood-staining technique that gives the vessel its rich character.
At the stern, the artwork features a rare 17-star, 17-stripe U.S. ensign connected to the privateer schooner Blockade. This historical reference adds another layer to the story behind the sculpture.
Horizon Light is not a mass-produced ship model. Jordan created the artwork without plans, sketches, or measuring tools. Each element reflects his individual approach to shipbuilding and maritime sculpture.
The vessel rests on a custom-designed dry dock, which becomes part of the presentation. Together, the ship and its base create a substantial sculptural work designed for serious collectors of original maritime art.
